DENTISTS
Dr Barbara Cater, business owner.
Qualifications: BDS University of Birmingham UK 1972.
Dr Barbara Cater is a very gentle and caring dentist who prides herself on remaining in touch with modern dental techniques which aim to improve patient comfort and confidence. Dr Cater graduated with a Batchelor of Dental Surgery from Birmingham University, England in 1973 and brings with her the knowledge and gentleness that comes with many years of experience in the UK, the Middle East and New Zealand.
A commitment to continuing education allows the provision of the best in quality care for her patients – Barbara’s main interest is in restorative dentistry, with a special interest in implant dentistry, and in the vitally important aspect of prevention and minimisation of dental disease.
When not busy with the practice of dentistry, Dr Cater enjoys family life and her beautiful lifestyle block with its horses, dogs, sheep, and of course, a garden.
Dr Maia Ackerman
Qualifications: BDS Otago 2003.
Maia started working at Duke Street Dental Care in 2011.
“I love my job and really enjoy working at Riverside Dental Care as it is a welcoming and friendly environment. I am experienced in all aspects of general dentistry and my approach to patients is relaxed, caring and I strive to meet patient’s needs. I get real satisfaction in seeing a patient transition from feeling nervous and apprehensive to being more comfortable and relaxed in the dental chair.
I live locally with my husband and two young children. When not at work I care for my family and am involved in many things Cambridge has to offer like the great roads to cycle on, playing netball and running.”
DENTAL THERAPIST / HYGIENIST
Jacqui Jowsey
Qualifications: Dip Dental Therapy Otago 2000, BHealSc (Dental Therapy) & BHealSc (Dental Hygiene) Otago 2004.
Jacqui joined Duke Street Dental Care in 2005.
Jacqui lives in Hamilton with her husband Brett and two young children.
“I love my job and enjoy helping people to achieve optimal dental health and feel confident about their mouths. I especially like working with children and the prevention aspect of dentistry. I enjoy keeping fit and spending time with my family.”
SUPPORT TEAM
Our Chairside Assistants are a crucial part of our team. They work hard providing key support, ensuring our customers get the very best treatment available.

ADMIN TEAM
Our Administrative Staff ensure that the clinic continues to run smoothly, ensuring that both staff and customers are happy and that our service remains top notch.
Receptionist
Nicki Torcetti (joined 2013).
Nicki has been doing a rock-solid job of running the reception for years and in many ways has become the face of Riverside Dental Care.
Practice Manager
Mike Cater (joined 2016).
